A pre-purchase inspection by a Maserati-certified technician is the minimum baseline to understand what was repaired, how it was repaired, and what remains open.

Confidence Factors

This report answers the 4 questions buyers actually care about.

Safety

☆☆☆☆

Has this vehicle been in an accident? Is it safe to drive?

We checked accident reports, title brands, structural damage, and open recalls.

A salvage title, major damage on the single recorded accident, and 11 open federal safety recalls — two of which cite fire risk from fuel system and electrical faults — are the facts that define this vehicle's safety profile. None of the 11 open recalls have been documented as completed on this vehicle.

Reliability

★★☆☆☆

Has it been maintained? Will it become a money pit?

We looked at service records, maintenance gaps, and known model issues.

Eight documented service records against 69,000 miles is an on-schedule maintenance count and reflects regular upkeep by a single owner averaging 6,273 miles per year. The reliability exposure is structural to this model year: industry reliability data consistently ranks 2014-2015 Ghibli as the most problematic years of this generation, with all four factory warranty categories now expired.

Ownership

★★★★★

Am I getting scammed? How was this vehicle actually used?

We examined owner count, usage type, and how long each owner kept it.

One owner across 11.7 years at 6,273 miles per year — this is a low-use, single-owner history with no turnover anomaly. Personal use is indicated throughout.

Value

☆☆☆☆

Am I going to overpay or get burned financially?

We compared auction cost, asking price, title impact, and market position.

The vehicle sold at auction on June 19, 2026 for $2,150 with mechanical damage flagged — that is the current market's direct statement on this salvage-titled Ghibli. The last retail listing was $22,999 in July 2022; the gap between that figure and the auction result reflects both the salvage title's permanent market discount and the documented mechanical condition at time of sale.

Vehicle Intelligence

What does this mean for this vehicle?

This vehicle sold at auction on June 19, 2026 for $2,150 with mechanical damage noted at 68,479 miles — a price that reflects the combined weight of a salvage title, major damage history, and 11 open federal safety recalls including two fire-risk categories involving the fuel delivery system and electrical wiring. Industry reliability data across multiple authoritative sources identifies the 2015 Ghibli as one of the most problematic years of this model's production run, with electrical malfunctions, cooling system failures, and documented engine seizure complaints — all now the owner's financial responsibility with every factory warranty expired. The confidence score of 46/100 reflects the intersection of an unresolved safety recall burden, a permanent title brand, a $2,150 auction floor, and a reliability profile that places this model year at the bottom of the Ghibli generation.

Considerations

The 2015 Ghibli's 3.0L V6 has documented engine seizure complaints from federal owner data, with affected owners reporting that Maserati dealers cited complete engine replacement as the only repair path and that individual engine components were unavailable for purchase. At 69,000 miles and with all factory warranties expired, any engine failure is the owner's full financial responsibility.
Cooling system failures and radiator leaks are documented concerns on 2014-2017 Ghibli models across multiple authoritative sources, with overheating reported under demanding conditions. This vehicle is at 69,000 miles — within the mileage range where these issues have been reported.
All 11 open safety recalls must be completed before this vehicle can be considered road-ready. Recall repairs are free at any Maserati franchise dealer, but the title status may affect how the dealer engages with a salvage-branded vehicle for non-recall service.

Value Impact Factors

Salvage Title — Major Damage(The accident is documented as major damage, placing this at the higher end of the salvage title discount range. A salvage title is permanent — this vehicle can never hold a clean title, and that discount compounds at every future resale.)
-40% to -50%
Auction Floor — $2,150 (June 2026)(The vehicle sold at a licensed salvage auction for $2,150 with mechanical damage noted at 68,479 miles in June 2026. This is the most recent arms-length transaction price on record.)
Established Market Floor
Financing Restrictions(Traditional auto lenders treat salvage title vehicles as unacceptable collateral. Financing, if available, is typically limited to credit unions, specialty lenders, or personal loans — often at higher rates — and requires proof of insurance coverage that many carriers decline to provide on salvage exotic vehicles.)
Cash Purchase Likely Required
Insurance Complications(Insurance carriers may decline comprehensive or collision coverage on a salvage title luxury vehicle, or offer limited-only policies. Most lenders require full coverage to fund an auto loan, creating a circular financing barrier.)
Coverage May Be Limited
Below-Average Mileage(At 69,000 miles against an expected 165,000 miles for its age, this vehicle is 96,000 miles below the average — a meaningful positive that partially offsets other value risks.)
+Positive
All Factory Warranties Expired(All four warranty categories — basic, powertrain, corrosion, and roadside — are expired. Every mechanical or electrical repair cost is the owner's full responsibility with no manufacturer backstop.)
Full Ownership Cost Exposure

Questions to Ask the Seller

?The record shows a major damage accident resulting in a salvage title — what specifically was damaged, which shop performed the repairs, was it a Maserati-certified body shop, and is there documentation of the completed repair scope?
?There are 11 open federal safety recalls on this vehicle, including two that cite fire risk — can you provide dealer documentation confirming which, if any, of these recalls have been completed?
?The vehicle sold at auction in June 2026 with mechanical damage flagged at 68,479 miles — what mechanical issue was present at that time, has it been repaired, and is there documentation of that repair?

Open Recalls (12 campaigns, 10 components)

Fuel Supply2 campaigns

Campaigns: 2018-701, 2017-032

OPEN

On certain vehicles, the fuel lines may weep or leak fuel due to an error in the assembly process. Fuel leaks may potentially occur at any location along the fuel line due to the introduction of foreign particles between the metal fuel line and plastic fuel line during the connection process. This could cause scratches on the plastic fuel line portion, and over time can increase the risk of an underhood fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a new fuel line. Note: This is an expansion of Recall 2017-032.

Summary shown for most recent campaign. All 2 campaigns share the same remedy.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS2 campaigns

Campaigns: 18V831000, 14V654000

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles. During production of the fuel lines, the lines may have been damaged, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

Summary shown for most recent campaign. All 2 campaigns share the same remedy.

RISK

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line assemblies, free of charge, unless previously repaired under recall 17V-045. The recall began January 15, 2019. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 378. Note: This recall supersedes recall number 17V-045.

SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:POWER ADJUST

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Quattroporte and Ghibli, and 2017 Levante vehicles. Adjusting the front seats may cause the seat wiring harness to rub, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

RISK

An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles, replacing the seat wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 342.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Campaign 17V0460002017-01-26

Seats And Restraints

Campaign 2017-0332017-01-20

OPEN

On certain vehicles, the seat wiring harness layout may have been routed incorrectly during manufacturing. Through normal seat adjustment, this could cause the seat wiring harness to rub against metal points on the seat/seat frame assembly. Over time, this could lead to an inoperative seat adjustment system, and in some cases could result in an electrical short to ground between the seat wiring harness and the seat adjustment motor assembly, which could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect routing and will secure and protect the seat wiring harness, and if necessary, install a new seat wiring harness.

SUSPENSION:FRONT:WHEEL BEARING

Campaign 16V6490002016-09-08

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ghibli vehicles manufactured March 11, 2015, through May 14, 2015. The right and/or left front wheel bearings may have insufficient hardness, resulting in their premature failure.

RISK

Wheel bearing failure may adversely affect vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the front wheel bearings, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 310.

Suspension

Campaign 2016-1952016-05-03

OPEN

On certain vehicles, a bolt that attaches the rear tie-rod to the hub carrier assembly may not have been torqued to specification. This could cause the bolt to loosen, which could result in noise from the rear of the vehicle. Over time, this could lead to separation of the tie-rod from the hub carrier, affecting steering control and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect tie-rod to hub carrier attaching bolts and will repair as necessary.

SUSPENSION:REAR

Campaign 16V2640002016-05-02

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to September 18, 2015. During the assembly process, the rear tie-rod to hub assembly attaching bolt may not have been properly tightened.

RISK

An improperly tightened rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolt may allow the tie-rod to separate from the hub carrier, resulting in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolts to verify that they are properly tightened, replacing the rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during July 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 303.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL

Campaign 16V1220002016-03-01

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to November 30, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the driver-side floor mat anchor may break allowing the floor mat to move and get trapped between the accelerator pedal and the vehicle carpet.

RISK

If the floor mat moves and becomes trapped between the accelerator and the vehicle carpet, it may result in very high vehicle speeds, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side floor mat and possibly the accelerator pedal cover, free of charge. The recall began April 29, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 301. Note: These vehicles are equipped with a brake override system. In the event a pedal is trapped, pushing on the brake pedal will brake the vehicle and enable the driver to slow and stop and turn off the vehicle.

Accessories

Campaign 2016-0972016-02-29

OPEN

On certain vehicles, the driver side floor mat anchors could break over time which could allow the floor mat to slide forward and potentially allowing the accelerator to become stuck in the wide open position. A fully depressed accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to slow or stop the vehicle. This could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver side floor mat and possibly the accelerator pedal cover.

Preguntas Frecuentes
