⚠️Professional inspection is critical before purchase

Salvage title with documented major accident damage and 7 unaddressed open federal safety recalls — two citing fire risk — require a pre-purchase inspection by a Maserati-certified technician who can assess structural integrity, ADAS system calibration, fuel system condition, and recall completion status.

Confidence Factors

This report answers the 4 questions buyers actually care about.

Safety

☆☆☆☆

Has this vehicle been in an accident? Is it safe to drive?

We checked accident reports, title brands, structural damage, and open recalls.

A salvage title following major damage and 7 open federal recalls — two of which cite fire risk — define the safety profile of this vehicle. The accident is documented; whether all structural and ADAS systems were properly restored to factory specification is not confirmed in the record.

Salvage title on record
!Minor damage reported (dent/scratches)
!Major damage in accident history
!7 open recall(s)

Reliability

★★☆☆☆

Has it been maintained? Will it become a money pit?

We looked at service records, maintenance gaps, and known model issues.

Eight documented service records are consistent with the vehicle's 69,000-mile, low-annual-mileage usage pattern — maintenance appears to have been kept. The more material reliability consideration is 7 open recalls that have never been addressed at a franchise dealer, all of which remain the owner's responsibility to resolve.

Good service history (8 records)
!7 recall(s) need attention
!All factory warranties expired

Ownership

★★★★★

Am I getting scammed? How was this vehicle actually used?

We examined owner count, usage type, and how long each owner kept it.

One owner over 11.7 years at 6,273 miles annually is a low-use, single-owner history — the ownership pattern itself is a positive data point. The mechanical damage flag on the June 2026 auction record is the outstanding unknown in the ownership picture.

Low mileage (6,273/yr)

Value

☆☆☆☆

Am I going to overpay or get burned financially?

We compared auction cost, asking price, title impact, and market position.

The vehicle sold at salvage auction on June 19, 2026 for $2,150 with mechanical damage noted — compared to a 2022 dealer listing of $22,999 — a delta that reflects salvage title impact, accident history, and unresolved mechanical condition. The salvage title on this make restricts traditional financing options and complicates full-coverage insurance availability.

Vehicle Intelligence

What does this mean for this vehicle?

This vehicle sold at salvage auction on June 19, 2026 for $2,150 — flagged with mechanical damage — against a prior dealer asking price of $22,999 in 2022, a gap that reflects the combined weight of a salvage title, major accident history, and unresolved mechanical condition. All 7 open federal recalls remain unaddressed, including two with cited fire risk: one from fuel system hose and fitting failures, and one from a front seat wiring harness short-circuit. The 1-star Safety and 1-star Value scores reflect the convergence of structural damage history, fire-risk open recalls, salvage title, and a documented auction result that places current market floor at $2,150.

Considerations

The auction record dated June 19, 2026 shows a sale price of $2,150 with mechanical damage noted — the nature and current repair status of that mechanical damage is not documented in the history record and represents an unknown cost exposure.
All factory warranties expired at 48 months/50,000 miles. All mechanical repair costs — including the elevated labor and OEM parts costs associated with this model — are the owner's responsibility. Industry data documents Maserati Ghibli 10-year maintenance costs in the $9,000+ range under normal conditions, without accounting for post-accident or recall-related repairs.
Two open fire-risk recalls — one for fuel system hose and fitting failures, one for seat wiring harness short-circuit — have not been completed at a franchise dealer. Completion is free at any authorized Maserati dealer and addresses the most acute documented safety exposures on this vehicle.

Value Impact Factors

Salvage Title(The auction's mechanical damage notation at a $2,150 sale price, combined with the confirmed major accident in the history record, places this vehicle at the higher end of the salvage title value penalty range. Salvage titles on luxury European makes carry additional resale difficulty versus mainstream brands.)
-40% to -50%
Major Accident — Structural Damage(Major damage is documented in the accident history. Whether frame or unibody repair was completed to Maserati-certified standards — and whether ADAS sensors were recalibrated — is not confirmed in the record, which affects both safety and residual value.)
-15% to -25%
Auction Sale — Mechanical Damage Flag(The vehicle crossed a salvage auction on June 19, 2026 at $2,150 with mechanical damage noted. This is the most recent arms-length transaction and establishes the current market floor for this vehicle in its present condition.)
Market floor: $2,150
7 Open Federal Recalls(Seven unaddressed recalls — including two with fire-risk citations — represent both a safety liability and a negotiating consideration. Recall completion is free at any authorized dealer, but the current unresolved status affects the vehicle's as-is condition.)
-5% to -10%
Salvage Title — Financing & Insurance Restrictions(Most traditional lenders will not finance a salvage-title vehicle, limiting buyers to cash transactions. Full-coverage insurance on a salvage-title Maserati is documented as significantly harder to obtain than on a clean-title example, with some carriers declining coverage entirely.)
Structural ownership cost factor
Mileage — 96,000 Below Average(At 69,000 miles against an expected 165,000 for its age, the vehicle is 96,000 miles below average — the one unconditionally positive value data point, though its impact is substantially offset by the title brand and accident record.)
+5% to +10%

Questions to Ask the Seller

?The auction record dated June 19, 2026 shows a sale price of $2,150 with mechanical damage flagged — what specifically was the mechanical damage, has it been repaired, and is there documentation of that repair work?
?The history shows a major accident resulting in a salvage title — what specifically was damaged, which shop performed the repairs, was a Maserati-certified body facility used, and were the ADAS and safety systems recalibrated to factory specification after the repair?
?There are 7 open federal recalls on this vehicle, including two citing fire risk from fuel system components and seat wiring — have any of these been completed at an authorized Maserati dealer, and is there paperwork confirming completion?

7 open, 0 completed

This vehicle has 7 open federal recalls, none of which have been completed. The two most safety-critical involve fire risk: one from fuel system hose, line, and fitting failures that can leak in the presence of an ignition source, and one from a front seat wiring harness that can short-circuit during seat adjustment. All recall repairs are performed at no cost at any authorized Maserati franchise dealer.

Campaigns: 18V831000, 14V654000

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles. During production of the fuel lines, the lines may have been damaged, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

Summary shown for most recent campaign. All 2 campaigns share the same remedy.

RISK

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line assemblies, free of charge, unless previously repaired under recall 17V-045. The recall began January 15, 2019. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 378. Note: This recall supersedes recall number 17V-045.

Fuel Supply

Campaign 2017-0322017-01-20

OPEN

On certain vehicles, the fuel lines may weep or leak fuel due to an error in the assembly process. Fuel leaks may potentially occur at any location along the fuel line due to the introduction of foreign particles between the metal fuel line and plastic fuel line during the connection process. This could cause scratches on the plastic fuel line portion, and over time can increase the risk of an underhood fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a new fuel line.

SUSPENSION:FRONT:WHEEL BEARING

Campaign 16V6490002016-09-08

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ghibli vehicles manufactured March 11, 2015, through May 14, 2015. The right and/or left front wheel bearings may have insufficient hardness, resulting in their premature failure.

RISK

Wheel bearing failure may adversely affect vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the front wheel bearings, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 310.

SUSPENSION:REAR

Campaign 16V2640002016-05-02

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to September 18, 2015. During the assembly process, the rear tie-rod to hub assembly attaching bolt may not have been properly tightened.

RISK

An improperly tightened rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolt may allow the tie-rod to separate from the hub carrier, resulting in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolts to verify that they are properly tightened, replacing the rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during July 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 303.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL

Campaign 16V1220002016-03-01

OPEN

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to November 30, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the driver-side floor mat anchor may break allowing the floor mat to move and get trapped between the accelerator pedal and the vehicle carpet.

RISK

If the floor mat moves and becomes trapped between the accelerator and the vehicle carpet, it may result in very high vehicle speeds, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

REMEDY

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side floor mat and possibly the accelerator pedal cover, free of charge. The recall began April 29, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 301. Note: These vehicles are equipped with a brake override system. In the event a pedal is trapped, pushing on the brake pedal will brake the vehicle and enable the driver to slow and stop and turn off the vehicle.

Preguntas Frecuentes
